Feature Teams in the 19th Annual Best Basketball Tournament

The 8th Grade Running Angels of Kansas City ran by Tony Woods, (who has been coaching for 13 years and running this organization for the last 5 years), will be making an annual appearance at this year's Tournament. Woods describes his teams as, “high profile, hard working, and up tempo players, who are taught the 3 D's - Discipline, Determination and Dedication”. The Running Angels team has a record of 89-14 for the 2011 year. They placed within the top 10 in AAU Nationals for four consecutive years and took first place in the AAU Super Regional in Dallas, TX. In 2010 all players received an invitation to the Lady Prodigy Basketball Exposure Camp. The Running Angels Class of 2016 features Shelbe Piggie a crafty up and coming point guard along with Lakesha Stephens who received an invite to the AAU All-American Camp in 2011. The Running Angels will certainly be a challenging opponent for any team at this year’s tournament.

Les ChatsLes Chats Basketball Club has been established with the purpose of providing girls the opportunity to improve their life skills through basketball. The Les Chats model is motivated by research that shows kids who are active in sports tend to fare better academically and have better self-esteem. Therefore, the primary mission of Les Chats Basketball Club is to use basketball as a platform to academic and self excellence. In the spring of 2004 the club was founded as a 6th grade girl’s competitive basketball team. Since then the club has grown to have four teams in Overland Park, Kansas. All the members of the original team are on the path to becoming great citizens and will be freshmen in college next year. more >>
